What is AI Visibility Tracking?

AI Visibility Tracking monitors how AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini mention and describe your brand. Unlike traditional SEO which tracks search rankings, AI Visibility tracks when AI systems cite your website as a source in their responses.

This is a paid feature available on Standard and Professional plans.

How It Works

SourceRank queries AI engines with questions relevant to your industry and keywords, then analyzes the responses to track:

  1. Mention Detection: When AI engines reference your brand or domain
  2. Citation Tracking: When they link to your website as a source
  3. Sentiment Analysis: Whether mentions are positive, neutral, or negative
  4. Context Analysis: How AI describes your company and products

The AI Visibility Dashboard

Access AI Visibility from your domain’s dashboard by clicking on a domain card or navigating to Domains → [Your Domain] → AI Visibility.

Setting Up AI Visibility Tracking

Good keywords include:

  • “project management software”
  • “team collaboration tools”
  • “best task management apps”

2. Configure Monitoring Frequency

Monitoring frequency depends on your plan:

  • Standard: Weekly automated checks
  • Professional: 3x weekly automated checks

You can also run manual checks (limited per month by plan).

3. Enable Auto-Monitor

Toggle Auto-monitor on your domain card to receive:

  • Automated AI visibility checks based on your plan

  4. Build topic clusters - Comprehensive coverage signals authority

Technical Optimizations

  1. Structured data - JSON-LD schema for articles, FAQs, products

  3. Select your domain
  4. Choose alert type:
    • Score drops - When AEO score decreases significantly

Troubleshooting

”No mentions found”

This is common for new domains or niche businesses. To improve:

  • Add more relevant keywords
  • Create content targeting questions AI users ask
  • Implement llms.txt and structured data
  • Build backlinks and authority

Mentions decreasing over time

Possible causes:

  • Competitors improving their AEO
  • Content becoming outdated
  • Technical issues affecting crawlability
  • Algorithm changes

Actions to take:

  • Refresh and update key content
  • Check for technical SEO issues
  • Add new, relevant content
  • Review competitor strategies

Sentiment is negative

Review the specific mentions to understand why:

  • Are there legitimate issues to address?
  • Is outdated information being cited?
  • Are competitors being compared favorably?

Address root causes in your content and product messaging.
